Last weekend, Cameron and I got the chance to explore the beautiful Historic Downtown Franklin. It’s only about a 30 minute drive from our house, but we don’t make it over there quite as often as we’d like. We arrived just in time before sunset and took a little stroll around Main Street. Something about it reminds me so much of my college town of Oxford, Mississippi. Everywhere you look, you’ll see brick sidewalks and streets filled with beautiful Victorian architecture.
After a walk around town. we met my best friend Cookie for a drink at JJ’s Wine Bar. It’s an eclectic little place located in the heart of Historic Downtown Franklin. Once a private residence, it has a very comfortable and cozy feel. I can’t wait to go back and sit on the charming wrap-around porch in the spring. One thing that makes JJ’s so unique is their smart-card system. You receive a wine card when you walk in the door which allows you to dispense your choice of size (a taste, half-serving or full-serving) of their 28 wines by the glass. It’s an awesome way to branch out of your comfort zone and try a wine you might not typically order!
A few of my other favorite places to eat and drink in Downtown Franklin are Puckett’s Boathouse, GRAY’s on Main, and Red Pony. My favorite things to do are visit the shops on Main Street and catch a movie at the The Franklin Theatre. It’s like taking a step back in time.
Okay now on to the outfit. I’m not typically much of a hot pink gal, but something about this mock neck “Not Your Baby” sweater just caught my eye. It’s so adorable for a funky Valentine’s Day look… who says it has to be all dresses and frill? Pair it with a pleated maxi skirt and you have the best of both worlds. I wore the crop sweater with my favorite Cali Jeans. I love the light indigo wash as we start to move into warmer temps and the destructed hem adds the perfect amount of texture. Bonus: I didn’t even have to alter the length! Some of my all-time favorite jeans are from Madewell. Did you know that you can bring in a pair of old jeans to any Madewell store for $20 off denim? They donate the old jeans to Blue Jeans Go Green™ to recycle into housing insulation.
I accessorized this sweater with my FAVORITE cheetah booties. I also have my eye on the same booties in this bronze color. I love how a statement bootie can spice up even the simplest outfit. I finished the outfit off with my Mingle Mingle Mini bag in iridescent that I’ve gotten so much use out of this season. I can’t get enough of the gold hardware and the snakeskin detailing that shines with rainbow iridescence when it hits the light.
