This is a hit for the whole family and the perfect meal for a cozy night in.
Donny Wayne’s Famous Chili Recipe:
Ingredients:
- 2 lb Angus ground beef
- 1 medium red onion, chopped
- 1 packet McCormick’s chili mix
- 2 cans red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 2 cans black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can Swanson’s chicken broth
- 1 can Rotel mild (or hot)
- 3 small cans of Brooks chili beans (mild or hot)
- 2 cans Hunt’s diced tomatoes
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp sea salt
- Fresh ground pepper, to taste
Toppings:
- Shredded cheese
- Sour cream dollop
- Sliced jalapeños
Instructions:
- In a skillet, brown the Angus ground beef and chopped red onion.
- Drain the grease from the skillet and return the meat and onions to the hot skillet.
- Add the McCormick’s chili mix and stir until well mixed.
- Transfer the seasoned meat mixture to a crockpot.
- Add the red kidney beans, black beans, chicken broth, Rotel, Brooks chili beans, Hunt’s diced tomatoes, chili powder, garlic powder, sea salt, and fresh ground pepper to the crockpot with the meat mixture.
- Stir all the ingredients in the crockpot until well combined.
- Set the crockpot to high and let it warm for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, reduce the temperature to low and let it simmer for an additional 3 hours.
- Serve the chili in bowls and top with shredded cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and sliced jalapeños.
