To me, Valentine’s Day isn’t just about celebrating and spending time with your significant other. It’s about taking time to appreciate and celebrate all the people you love in your life. This year, I teamed up with my friends Molly Sohr and Ashley Wilson and planned a brunch to celebrate our girls. Ashley is the fashion and lifestyle blogger behind Beau and Arrow and Molly is the party stylist and event planner behind The Cedar Lane. The three of us are surrounded by so many strong, hard-working and loving women in all different fields. We decided to join forces and plan a boho-inspired brunch to celebrate them.
Sadly I was too sick with the flu to attend the actual event (awesome timing right??), but it was so cool to see how everything we spent weeks planning came together. We started it all with a mood board created by Molly. Ashley and I pinned some images of decor we liked, and she pulled it all together to make one cohesive board. I highly suggest creating a mood board for any event you’re planning. No matter how big or small, it helps you stay on course for the overall tone of the party and helps your vision come to life. This was super helpful to me during wedding planning as well!
We started with the big things first: decor and party rentals. Everything we pinned was super boho-inspired and just screamed Apple & Oak. My friend Allison, the owner of the store, let us borrow some amazing vintage rugs, decorative poufs and a rattan peacock chair (which made for a perfect photo opp!). We also knew Please Be Seated would be perfect for the dining table, linens and table setting. They helped us create a neutral yet girly tablescape with beautiful gold accents. The eclectic goblet glasses added a nice little hint of vintage. The earthy and muted tones from the table arrangement by Mercy + Thyme completely finished off the table and served as the perfect focal point of the room.
Next up were invitations and graphics, and I knew exactly who to call! My soon to be sister-in-law Shalan is an incredible designer and calligrapher. She knocked it out of the park with our invitations, menus and graphics. She even hand-lettered the big brush letters! Be sure to check out her website here and her beautifully curated Instagram here. For the menu, we opted for a Biscuit Bar provided by Holler & Dash. If you’ve never been, you’re missing out on some delicious southern breakfast food! We also had a Bloody Mary Bar thanks to Dixie Vodka and Mimosa Bar with the help of Proof Old Fashioned Syrup (a great way to spruce up a classic mimosa).
Even though I didn’t make it to the event, I had a blast planning it with Ashley and Molly. I hope to plan more events like this in the future! You can check out Ashley’s recap of the brunch here and Molly’s post here. I hope this inspires you to get together with your girls this Valentine’s Day and let them know how much you love them.
THANKS TO ALL OF OUR AWESOME VENDORS FOR MAKING THIS EVENT POSSIBLE!
