There’s just something magical about stepping into a place that feels like it was dreamed up in color… and that’s exactly how our trip to Aurora, New York with MacKenzie-Childs felt from the moment we arrived. Nestled right on Cayuga Lake in the Finger Lakes region, Aurora honestly looked like a storybook come to life — charming little streets, the prettiest lake views, and the most whimsical details tucked into every corner.

This trip was such a special mix of inspiration, creativity, and slowing down for a few days. We toured the iconic MacKenzie-Childs farmhouse and grounds, and I truly don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it. Every room felt layered with color, pattern, personality, and so much joy. It reminded me that homes are meant to feel collected and lived in — not perfect.

One of my favorite parts was getting to see the artistry behind the brand. So many of their pieces are hand-painted right there in Aurora, which makes every little detail feel even more special. Watching the craftsmanship up close gave me such a deeper appreciation for the creativity and care poured into each collection.

And of course, I left completely inspired to bring more whimsy and personality into our own home. I’ve always believed your home should make you feel something, and this trip reminded me how much beauty there is in embracing color, mixing patterns, and creating spaces that simply make you happy.
I’ve always imagined handing down my favorite Mackenzie-Childs pieces to my daughter one day, so it felt so full-circle having Frankie on this trip with me. I used their Mocha-Check collection for her nursery, baby shower, and am working on planning her first birthday with them at the center of the decor.
So grateful for this dreamy few days in Aurora and for the sweetest team at MacKenzie-Childs for hosting us so thoughtfully. Definitely one of those trips I’ll be thinking about for a long time. 🤍
