As I mentioned in my latest post, we recently got the chance to visit Wyoming. Not only did we get to explore and learn all about the beautiful state, but we were also there for Josh Dorr’s EP release. To be totally honest, I had never listened to his music until right before the trip, but I left a total fan of his work and of Josh as a person.

A native of the coal mining town of Gillette, Wyoming, Josh is truly a stand up guy. He moved to Nashville in 2010 after being offered an internship with a record label. After moving to Nashville, he decided to pick up a guitar and began writing music himself. Before his album release party in Wyoming, he was able to join us on our adventures throughout the state. From the moment we stepped off the plane in Gillette, you could tell Josh was in his element. It was really awesome to get to know him and his music in his hometown surrounded by the people who shaped him into the artist he is today.

On our first night of the trip, we stayed at the charming Ranch at U-Cross. After a lovely home-cooked steak dinner, we moved into the parlor of the old western home for a private concert with Josh. About ten of us gathered around the room and listened to him play some favorites from his new EP and a few older songs. Living in Nashville, we are lucky enough to hear live music all the time. I’m so glad I got to hear him perform live for the first time in this intimate setting in his home state. It gave me an entirely different appreciation for the music and where his inspiration comes from.

The new EP “Sundancer” is a culmination of stories crafted through the ups and downs of the last few years. The songs take you through the renewal Josh has experienced through the last year and define who he is as an artist and a songwriter. A few of my favorite songs include “Ready Or Not” and the title track “Sundancer.” Listen to the full EP here
