Our wedding day was truly the happiest and most blissful day of our lives. It's hard for me to put into words what that day meant to me. There will never be anything quite like having all of our family, friends and loved ones under one roof celebrating our marriage.
Every detail of the day was even better than I had imagined. It was a beautiful day in September with blue skies and a perfect 75 degrees. There was a slight hint of fall in the air. Our ceremony and reception were both at the beautiful Graystone Quarry, a refined rustic venue in Thompson Station, TN. It’s on 76 private acres of reclaimed abandoned rock quarries. On a quiet country farm road, the land is steeped in local history and beauty. It’s home to meadows, forest, streams, ponds, dramatic limestone cliff walls, and even a scenic waterfall.
Graystone's owner Nancy and her team were a dream to work with and they made every detail of my dream wedding come to life. It is truly the ideal canvas for creating the perfect wedding. I spent the morning of the big day getting ready in Graystone's stunning bridal suite with my mom, my bridesmaids, my soon-to-be sister-in-law Shalan, Cameron's mom and our awesome team of hair stylists and makeup artists from Hunter Paige (one of my mom's salons). My mom did my hair and makeup which was a special moment I will never forget. Cameron spent his morning with his groomsmen and our dads sipping whiskey, playing cornhole and flying drones in Graystone's grooms quarters. They even got haircuts and beard trims by Jeff from Barbour 3.
One of my favorite details of the wedding was the handmade kimono I got ready in. My friends at Hey Wanderer designed the most beautiful kimono with pieces of my mom and Mimi's wedding gowns. The bell sleeves were made from the lace of my mom's dress from the 90's, the appliqué on the back was from my Mimi's dress from the 70's and the ribbon around my waist was a piece of silk from my dress that we snagged during alterations. As much as I loved wearing it, I am even more excited to pass this heirloom piece down in our family for generations to come.
They also designed the hand-dyed robes for of my bridesmaids. The robes were uniquely dyed and sewn for each girl. They make the perfect bridesmaid gift, and the best part is they can be worn without the tie as a kimono to almost any outfit. I wear my Hey Wanderer kimonos with everything!
All of my bridesmaids wore combinations of earrings, necklaces and bracelets from Mary Kathryn Design that I helped her design. We had so much fun sitting at my kitchen table creating unique jewelry to reflect each girl. My favorites were the Agate Slice Drop Earrings and the Pave Crystal Necklaces. Both Hey Wanderer and Mary Kathryn work with brides on custom orders.
