We’re BACK with another segment of #HunterBrookeStyled. This month we’re discussing all things plaid and how to incorporate it into your fall/winter wardrobe. In case you’re new around here, I’ve been teaming up with my dear friend Brooke Webb of KBStyled each month to show you how to style pieces in your 20’s and 30’s. We find similar pieces or trends that we love and add our own unique twist to it.

I have to admit, I was hesitant when I first saw plaid popping back into the scene this fall. After mixing a few pieces into my wardrobe I’m all about it. If done correctly, plaid can be a classic and timeless print. For my plaid look I styled an ivory cropped turtleneck sweater with a plaid a-line mini skirt. This woven high rise mini skirt is super flattering and has a brass pull-ring detail on the zipper. Want to know the best part about it? It’s super affordable! My exact one is almost sold out but I found a similar one here. I finished the look off with the Sienna Cap from Ace of Something, my Mingle Mingle Mini crossbody bag from Kelly Wynne and pair of my favorite gold statement earrings from Lisi Lerch. My KW pattern is from last season, but they have tons of similar options in the same style. These OTK boots are a splurge, but I’ve already styled them several ways this fall.

I absolutely LOVE how Brooke mixed two bold plaid patterns together for her look. This look is the perfect example of mixing prints in a tasteful and cohesive way. It doesn’t look too busy and would make the perfect outfit for a holiday party. My favorite part is how her white booties add a bit of edge to her otherwise polished and put together look. I’m a firm believer that white booties can be worn year-round and these are a great versatile style. Head to her blog to read more about her take on plaid.

I encourage you to try the plaid trend if you haven’t yet! If done right, plaid can be a staple pattern in your fall/winter wardrobe. What plaid items are you crushing on this season?
